	Christchurch, New Zealand Recorded January 14, 2007. Christchurch is the largest city on the South Island of New Zealand, and the country's second-largest urban area with a population of 368900 . It is one third the way down the South Island's east coast, just north of Banks Peninsula. The video begins at the Christchurch Gondola which is a spectacular ride far above the city. 4-person cabins lift you gently up to 1500 feet above sea level for stunning 360° views extending over Pegasus Bay and the Pacific Ocean to Kaikoura; over Banks Peninsula, Lake Ellesmere and Lyttleton Harbour, and across the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps. Once on top we were perched on the rim of the Mt Cavendish crater. The video concludes in downtown Christchurch along the Avon River and on Cathedral Square.
